What if my TCU ID card is not working correctly?

The most frequent problem is within the magnetic stripe on the back of your card, which contains information needed when using the access control card readers.  If the stripe is damaged or encoded improperly, the card will not scan accurately.  Please note that because it is a magnetic stripe, it can be easily deactivated if exposed to a magnet, strong battery (as in cell phones) or other bank cards.  Call or come by the ID Card Center office when you are experiencing a problem with your TCU card functions.

TCU ID Card Access

There are many places on campus which require a TCU ID card to gain entrance to a facility or event:

  • Library
  • Free admission to athletic events for students
  • Music practice rooms
  • Computer labs
  • Health Center
  • Student Center activities
  • Student Employment
  • Recreational sports / Intramural Sports
  • TCU Music/Theatre performances

When does my TCU ID card expire?

As long as you remain enrolled and pay your fees at TCU, your TCU ID card will automatically activate each semester.  Students are responsible for keeping their card in good condition, whether they are currently enrolled or sitting out a semester.

What do I do if my card is lost or stolen?

Contact the ID card office immediately at (817) 257-7856 or TCU Police at (817) 257-7777 to have your card canceled.

What happens if my card is found and turned into the TCU ID Card Office?

If your TCU ID Card is found and turned into the TCU ID Card Office you will receive an e-mail from us letting you know that it is in our office - Room 221 of the Student Center.

Where is my money?

You may notice after adding money to your ID card that the funds are not appearing.  This is a very common question from students who live on campus and have a required plan. If you still have funds in your required plan, please note that the funds you added are in a separate plan. The required funds are not refundable and are used first. The added funds are refundable and will show up when you have used the money from your required plan.

For example, if you have $5 left on your required plan and but buy lunch for $6 the added funds will show up when you make the purchase.

When you make a purchase, the balance shown will continue to reflect the required plan balance until you reach $0.00 (zero) dollars, at which time you will start to see the added funds.

Is there anything else I should know?

Listed below are some do's and don'ts about using your TCU ID Card:

  • Do know where your TCU ID Card is at all times.
  • Do carry your card with you.
  • Do come in and get a new ID if yours is not working properly. There is no charge for replacing an old, worn ID. However, there is a $20 replacement fee for lost or misused IDs.
  • Don't mistreat your TCU ID Card. While the TCU ID Card can serve many functions, there are some things it was not designed to do (scrape ice off windshields, pick locks, play tug-of-war with the puppy, etc).
  • Don't alter the appearance of your TCU ID Card. This includes, but is not limited to: writing on, hole punching in, scratching information off of the TCU ID Card.
  • Don't allow someone else to use your TCU ID Card. Possession of another student's ID card may be considered a violation of University regulations and could subject both the user and the card owner to disciplinary action.
