International Student Identity Card
Requirements (ISIC)
Secondary, tertiary (High School, College, Universities, Graduate
School) or vocational school students who are at least 12 years of age
and matriculating in a program of study leading to a degree or diploma
at an accredited educational institution during the current academic
year are eligible for the ISIC.
A student may apply at any time during the year by showing valid
proof of his/her student status for the current year’s fall, spring or
summer semesters. (Note: Issuing Office staff will require proof of age.
Driver’s License, State License or Passport are all valid forms of
identification.)
Students may submit one of the following as acceptable proof of
student status:
- A college, university or school ID validated for the current
academic semester. Photocopies are acceptable as long as the issuer
is clearly aware of the students degree-seeking status and if the ID
details current enrollment. If there are no validity dates on the ID
card it is not acceptable as proof of eligibility.
- Report card or grade transcript from the registrar indicating
enrollment for the current semester.
- An official receipt from the school’s bursar signifying tuition
has been paid for the current semester.
- Letter from the Registrar or Dean on official school stationary,
including the school seal, indicating that the student is enrolled
during the current academic year.
- Letters of acceptance or certificates from colleges,
universities, high schools or vocational schools within the US are
acceptable only if accompanied by a dated receipt of deposit or
tuition showing registration fees are prepaid for the coming
semester.
In all cases, it must be clear that the student is matriculating
towards a degree or diploma.
At the TCU issuing location, the ISIC is valid for one year from date
of issue (i.e. September 1, 2006 – October 31, 2007)
All foreign students holding F-1 visas are by definition eligible for
the ISIC. Other foreign students must provide acceptable proof of
matriculation.
Persons Not Eligible for the ISIC Include:
- Any person not meeting the qualifications listed above
- Individuals under the age of 12
- Students who have dropped out of school
- Spouses of Cardholders (please note that in certain cases, a
spouse may be eligible to travel on student airfare, provided they
are accompanied by an eligible cardholder--inquire with your student
travel agency.).
- Individuals enrolled in short-term courses, e.g. language
schools (this does not apply to students holding F-1 Visas).
- Continuing education students who are not matriculating towards
a degree or diploma.
